E85 Ethanol

E85 ethanol, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, is a mostly renewable fuel that can be made from biodegradable wastes and several plants, such as switchgrass, willow, and corn.

Because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions, E85 ethanol is an exciting new energy resource. That's why GM already has more than 2.5 million FlexFuel vehicles, which run on E85 ethanol or gasoline, on the road today in all 50 states, and has partnered with the Governor's Ethanol Coalition to foster greater usage and understanding of E85 ethanol.

Flex FuelGM is one of the leading producers of E85 FlexFuel vehicles, with 12 different models available in 2008. This is a large step toward our goal of having half of annual vehicle production be E85 or biodiesel capable by 2012.
